White Oak Township  was established in August, 1896 to serve the needs of a six-square mile town in southeastern Hubbard county.

The township features mostly rural agricultural areas, residential and lakeshore living.

The small town of Chamberlain is where the Town Hall is located.  Chamberlain was established shortly before the time the township itself came into existence and was once a thriving rural village, which featured a general store and post office, a church and cemetery, and a farmers club.  The farmers club building now houses the Town Hall.

There are several lakes within White Oak’s boundaries, including  8th and 9th Crow Wing Lakes, as well as Crystal, Ham, Hay, Loon, Little Ham, Williams, Mary, Spring, Island, Steel and Robinson Lakes, offering many recreational  opportunities in summer and winter.  A portion of Badoura State Forest is also located in the far southeastern corner of White Oak Township.

Minnesota State Highway 64 splits White Oak township in two, running the entire length, with several County Roads, including 110, 119, 19, 49, 82, 12, and 84 also providing access to supplement the 33.3 miles of township roads.
